核心讲解
一个有效段落不是“First…Second…Third…”的空壳。主题句给一个可支持的分论点；解释说明机制；例子让机制具体；回扣说明它与中心论点的关系。并非每段必须四句，但四个功能需要可辨认。
主题句：A short orientation guide can reduce avoidable confusion. 解释：New students often do not know which office handles a problem. 例子：A clear entry about lost student cards can direct them to the right desk before they queue elsewhere. 回扣：The guide therefore saves time by making the next action clear. 例子中的can是合理可能情景，不声称真实测量节约多少分钟。
让步不是自我推翻。Although a guide cannot answer every question, it can direct students to staff who can help. 承认不能全包，再指出有限但实际价值。反方观点须公平：维护资料要成本，比“反对者都懒惰”更值得回应。
原创示范短文
A short guide to campus services would be useful for first-year students, provided that it is easy to update. New students need more than a list of buildings; they need to know where to go when a problem occurs.
One useful feature would be a set of clear action steps. For example, a student who loses a campus card should be able to find out which office to contact and what information to bring. Such guidance can prevent unnecessary journeys between offices. The guide could also explain where to find current opening hours rather than repeat details that may soon change.
Maintaining the guide would take staff time. However, this does not justify giving students no guidance at all. A brief digital document, checked at the start of each term, would be a manageable first step. Its value should be judged by whether it helps students act, not by how many pages it contains.
